Bavaria, What's Not To Love?
Bavaria, my favorite part of my favorite country. Being there just feels like home.
While this delightful region is known to have some of the most majestic castles in the world, it has so much more to offer. It's home of the highest point in Germany, the Zugspitze, the most successful football club in Germany, Bayern Munich and nestled in the northern section is a wonderful little mid-evil village, Rothenburg.
Bayern, as the Germans know it, has it's own dialect of the German language Bayrisch, its own type of sausages (the Weißwurst or white sausage) and of course beer.
Bavarians are probably the most beer loving people in the world. They hold the world famous Oktoberfest in Munich, the world's biggest beer party.
Like most places, it has its dark side too. Munich is where Hitler began his climb to power, it was the seat of command during the early part of the Nazi regime, and Dachau was the first concentration camp built just a bit northwest of the city.
Throughout this website I'm going to show you why it is my favorite part of the world. You will learn where to go, what to do, where to stay and what you might like to eat.
So whether you are going for a weekend or staying for a year you will find a wealth of information on this intriguing part of the world.
Bayern has so much to offer, I'm sure you'll find a special place in your heart for this wonderful land. I know I do.
